"What is Wrong with Our Children?"

Much has been written and said in the wake of the tragedy in Littleton, Colorado, where two youths tried to destroy their high school and kill as many students and faculty as possible. They succeeded in slaughtering fifteen people, including themselves, although it has been reported that they had hoped to kill five hundred and blow up or burn the school buildings.
In the aftermath of this bloodbath, there have been the usual cries from government and the liberal media for more "gun control." Little has been said, though, about "explosives control," although these young men had prepared more than fifty explosive devices in their satanic attempt to kill, maim and destroy.
As far as I know, there has been next-to-nothing said or written by anyone in authority about the need for "mind control." And that is a shame, because therein lies the problem. When children are not taught that there are standards of decency that are expected of them; when they are not taught that there are limits to what they may do; when they are taught that there is not a higher Power to which they are ultimately accountable, then this kind of outcome is predictable.
These children's minds were out of control. They had been indoctrinated by what passes for "society" in our nation. As a result they had learned to hate so vehemently as to carry out barbaric acts like Littleton and Jonesboro. Do parents bear responsibility? Of course! Even if society (so-called) permits such atrocities as murder-inciting music, movies, TV programs, etc., it is first and foremost the responsibility of the parent to teach his or her child! And also to know what your child is up to or in to. What his or her state of mind is. Where is his/her moral compass? Have you given them one? Or are they simply at the mercy of a cruel, uncaring society, which has for its god, Satan the devil (2 Cor. 4:4)?
When we are so concerned with "freedom of speech" that we allow the kinds of "entertainment" that our youth are growing up on, we are inviting trouble. There is music filled with hatred that incites to mayhem, movies that teach them how to torture, rape, kill, and commit every kind of evil against their unsuspecting peers. Television is scarcely any better. Although the violence and carnage depicted may not be quite as bad on an individual basis as some movies, most of us are exposed to television daily. Some children sit spell- bound in front of a television day after day, hour after hour, soaking up the most perverted kind of filth.
Those who say this kind of exposure will not affect a kid's mind should consult the advertisers. They know that constant bombardment of their message results in sale of their product. The same holds true for the perversion that passes for programming. And then there is the internet, with enough "free" stuff to pollute a young, impressionable mind.
It all boils down to this: "gun control" is silly to talk about. Making guns and explosives less available while allowing the young to continue on being demonized by society's pulls is stupid. When I was young (in the 30's and 40's) anyone could walk into a hardware store or general store and buy any kind of gun he wanted. I could and did buy dynamite, caps and fuses. Poison was readily available. All these things had legitimate uses back then, just as many of them do today. Why was there not a blood bath in the schools then? Minds were different then. We did not fill our minds with mayhem. We did not listen to "cop killer" songs. Movies such as "Natural Born Killers" were unheard of, and, I don't think society would have tolerated them.
Remember this one thing: It is not what is in the hands of these young people, it is what is in their heads!
So, why do we tolerate these things today?
It is because of the vocal activism of a few radical extremist groups who are intent on bringing this nation down, such as the ACLU (under the guise of "protecting our freedom"). And also because of the money-grubbing tactics of a few huge media companies such as Time-Warner and Disney that are willing and eager to put their own profits ahead of the welfare of the people.
So, what to do? Ideally, the solution would be to give all the pornography and violence publishers, movie makers, TV producers, and their ilk, 30 days to destroy all their filth and find a new line of work. Then require all parents, churches and school systems to begin teaching morals. Yes, morals CAN be taught. Teach youth right precepts; not the stuff they have been indoctrinated with for the past two generations. Sound religious? Maybe, but it will work, whereas these band-aid solutions most certainly will not.
Then, let's throw out about 95% of the judges and get righteous ones. That would be a slow process, as there are probably not enough qualified applicants alive today to fill all the judicial benches that would be vacated. This would take the initiative away from these sue-happy people and their backers who are eager to file suit to have the Ten Commandments and Bibles removed from public buildings, including schools. Are you aware that one federal judge in Alabama has appointed "prayer police" to roam the halls of one school to make sure no pupil dares to pray! I kid you not. Praying in that particular school is a federal crime.
Next, parents who refuse to correct and teach their children must be punished. Children who rebel and refuse to be instructed in righteousness must be punished. There is precedent in both Biblical and secular law for these two measures. Does this sound harsh? drastic? Yes, and it will never happen under the present forms of government, anywhere in this world, with the possible exception of some few Islamic nations that have instituted what we consider to be extreme "martial law" measures. But do we want to solve the problem, or not? Gun control will not solve the problem. More laws will not solve the problem. The problem is in the hearts and minds of men. We have corrupted at least two generations of our youth, and now we are in a crisis of our own making, reaping bitter fruit. Here are some scriptures that relate to our problem:
Dan. 4:17"…the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men. Are any of our leaders base?
Isa 3:1-5 "…And I will make boys their princes, and babes shall rule over them. The people will be oppressed, everyone by another and everyone by a neighbor; the youth will be insolent to the elder, and the base to the honorable .Are there insolent youth? Are we oppressed? What about lawless gangs of young toughs?
Isa 3:12 My people--children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, your leaders mislead you, and confuse the course of your paths. Our leaders mislead us? O Surely not! (I'm kidding).
Deu 4:9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons; Are you doing this? See also Deut. 6:7.
2 Tim 3:1-4 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of Yahweh;
Friends, these are the last days, and perilous times have come. Men (and women) love themselves above all else. We are covetous, always wanting more, boasters, prideful, blasphemers, and certainly a large segment of the young are disobedient to their parents.
But let's not paint all young people with that brush. Many, probably the vast majority, are good, decent kids who are trying to do the right thing. The problem is, there aren't many of us parents telling them what "the right thing" is.
Many of them are confused by what they are being taught in the government schools. They need guidance, and they need it desperately. If no guidance is forthcoming, we stand to lose yet another generation to this secular society.
And, unless some as-yet-unknown leader takes action to correct these problems, this nation and this world as we know it is doomed. And prophecy says no such action will be taken prior to the return of our Savior, the Sovereign Yahshua, the Messiah. It will be His job to bring peace and happiness to this world, by enforcing the laws that yield peaceful results - the Ten Commandments.
The Bible is Yahweh's instruction book for His greatest Creation, us! Just as we consult the "Owner's Manual" for that new car, VCR, computer, etc., we must also consult our own "owner's manual" that tells us how to live in happiness and harmony with our neighbors, and, even more importantly, with our Creator, Yahweh. <>
