Man or Creator - Who Decides Morality? By Michael Abernathy n a world where diversity has no bounds, where change is constant, where people and machines are continually forced to upgrade in order to keep up with the latest features and demands, there seems to be nothing perfect, constant, or above the need to be modernized and updated. After all, society changes every day, so it therefore seems "smart" or "intelligent" to be flexible enough to accommodate change. This mindset has not only taken over business and economic dealings, but most people have applied this view to their beliefs and morals, whether scripturally based or not. So-called "modern morality" seems to be something that can be changed or altered in order to adapt to whatever the situation may require. To be steadfast or concrete in a certain set of foundational morals and doctrine is seen as "old fashioned" or uninformed. I hear comments like, "Anything I want to do is OK as long as I don't hurt anybody," or, "this is the new millennium." Statements like these, other than being downright ludicrous, are also completely satanic in origin. The statement, "I can do anything I want," in and of itself is a true statement, for we are given free moral agency by our Creator. The satanic mindset of that statement is evident when we go one step further and say, "Anything I do is right," thereby attributing to oneself the authority to decide and discern between right and wrong. In the garden of Eden, the woman was led to believe this same concept. She was told by the adversary that her eating of the forbidden fruit would make her like Elohim, deciding for herself what was good and what was evil. "And the serpent said to the woman, 'you shall not surely die. For Elohim knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be like Elohim, knowing good and evil." (Gen. 3:4-5) The lie of Satan is still very much alive and active in the lives of many unknowing or uncaring people today. Even in the "professing" religious world, countless individuals hum through life accepting, and maybe even practicing, anything and everything that is taught from the pulpit. In the guise of showing mercy, millions have been seduced into compromising with, or maybe even rejecting, previously held truths. Practices such as homosexuality, abortion, and a wide array of other evils have been "whitewashed" and labeled as "acceptable alternate lifestyles," and all this passes for the religious litmus test of "showing mercy" (compassion, tolerance). The prophet Isaiah says, "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter." Isaiah 5:20 Do we not see the fulfillment of this scripture taking place before our very eyes? Those who stand up for Scriptural truth and refuse to compromise are labeled as "legalistic," and "intolerant bigots," while those who compromise with evil in the guise of mercy or tolerance are praised for seemingly applying "grace." These are those described in Jude 4, as those who turn grace into lasciviousness (license to sin). When will the compromise stop? Modern Christianity is the product of almost two thousand years of compromise, and more ground is given to the enemy almost daily. Isaiah says, "woe to those who would dare to stifle Yahweh's truth with falsehood. Isaiah 5:20 is in effect saying, "Woe to you, Rev. John Doe, you who call homosexuality, abortion and all forms of wickedness acceptable under the umbrella of grace, and at the same time you criticize and ridicule those who adhere strictly to the Scriptures." Daniel Botkin, author of "Gates of Eden," and a Believer, wrote in his July-August 2000 issue the following: "According to an article in the 4-30-00 Journal-Star, liberal theologians argue that the only homosexual activity the Bible condemns is 'same sex activity by those who were naturally heterosexual.'" And yet undoubtedly these same liberal theologians are trusted to correctly interpret Scripture. Botkin goes on mockingly saying, "Maybe I should become a liberal. That way I can commit adultery and say that it is wrong only for those who are naturally monogamous, and I can steal and say that it is wrong only for those people who are naturally honest." Once the cancer of compromise is allowed into our belief system it gives headway for even more perverseness to take hold. Pretty soon on this road of compromise, we arrive at a crossroads and begin to believe that any road we choose to take is the right way, all roads lead to the same goal. All roads, no matter how blatantly contradictory they may be, are viewed as the "true" road. When we arrive there, we in effect deny our Savior who says of Himself: "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6) There is an absolute standard of foundational truth that we must build on. Our Messiah is the embodiment of those absolute standards. The only way to the Father is through His Son. Yahshua is our Example. We must walk as He walked, for He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life…"Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth." (I Peter 2:21) Everything in our universe is subject to some sort of law or standard. Without restrictions placed, everything would be chaotic. Nature alone has countless laws in place to sustain life and structure. Even the seasons are set in pattern and repeating sequence by the laws that control the movement of the stars and planets. When laws are broken, consequences are incurred. How could anybody, with any thinking capacity whatsoever, say that human life is not also governed by set laws? Every action has a reaction. If you cut yourself you will bleed. If you jump up, gravity will pull you back down. Yahweh's moral laws work for humans, if they are applied and obeyed, just like His natural laws work to keep structure. Laws depend upon the compliance of every participant, working together, to achieve their intended objective. In the same way that natural laws are mapped out, Yahweh has also mapped out laws governing human life and morality. Yahweh knows the way to perfect peace, happiness, and harmony, and He has revealed this "way" to us in His Scriptures. Yahweh also knows that any deviation from this way will disrupt the harmony and peace, and bring about adverse consequences. I challenge anyone who disagrees with this to show me one law of Yahweh that is unfair, unethical, or causes harm to others. I believe that a Being who created everything that exists would have more sense than anything He created, and that He is intelligent enough to know how to sustain a harmonized creation. "Well," you might ask, "Can you prove that such a Being actually exists?" To this I would respond, "Well, can you disprove it?" If something cannot be proven false, it of necessity must be truth. If this is not enough proof for you, then look around at all creation, His creation, and try to explain it away as some scientific freak of nature. Then when you realize that this attempt is entirely in vain, get on your knees and acknowledge your sin and unbelief to your Creator, ask for His forgiveness and His Truth. To the rest of the unbelieving, materialistic, scientific, pagan, druid, wiccan, political, and all other deceived folks who refuse to acknowledge the truth, I say to you, "Stop trying to turn people away from faith in their Creator; stop spreading falsehood. I am sick of all the money hungry deceived preachers and "prophets" who try to discredit our Creator's laws as "outdated" or done away. Listen to Yahshua's own words on this subject: "Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to complete. For truly I say to you, 'till the heaven and the earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall by no means pass from the torah till all be done. Whoever, then, breaks one of the least of these commands, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the reign of the heavens; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the reign of the heavens." (Matthew 5:17-19) We should be sick of all the perverted, twisted, compromised and deceptive theology being taught today, even in the Assemblies of professed Believers. It is time for this world to wake up and reject the falsehoods that have wormed their way into every aspect of modern life. Yahweh calls and commands, "Come out of her My people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues." It is time to throw off the shackles of sin and get prepared to meet our Elohim. The time is now. May Almighty Yahweh grant to all, a heart willing to hold fast to the freedom from sin and death, which can only be found in His Son, the embodiment of all righteousness. Let us hear the conclusion of the entire matter: Fear Elohim and guard His commands, for this applies to all mankind! (Ecclesiastes 12:13). ~Michael Abernathy~ |
